Leather Puppetry also known as tholubommalata or �Shadow Play� is a traditional form of puppet theatre in Andhra Pradesh, India. The puppets used in this art form are made of parchment leather, which is created by treating goat skin with perforation and painting techniques. They are manipulated using sticks to create the illusion of movement and are often brightly colored. Over time, the art of leather puppetry has evolved to include the creation of contemporary products such as lamp shades, bag tags and wall hangings.
