Honey is a natural, semi-solid substance made by honey bees from the nectar of flowers. Honey bees collect nectar, secretions of flowers, or other living parts of plants, and excretions of plant sucking insects. The bees combine these substances with specific substances of their own, deposit, dehydrate, store, and leave in honeycombs to ripen and mature. Honey is a viscous and syrupy liquid, semi-translucent pale yellow or yellowish brown to dark brown in color with a sweet aromatic odor and sweet acrid taste.
