History (Wikipedia):

From where we get Special Bulbul Tarang/ Banjo- Small history below:

Our knowledge about the instrument is from Wikipedia. As per Wikipedia, we shared this small history to let our customers know about the history. The Bulbul Tarang (बुलबुल तरंग), translating to "waves of nightingales," is a string instrument from India. It often referred to as the Indian Banjo. Moreover, it evolved from the Japanese taishōgoto, which, in fact, likely made its way to South Asia in the 1930s.

The instrument has evolved over time; consequently, it now features a total of 14 strings divided into three parts: specifically, 2 main strings for melody and bass, 4 jhala strings, and 8 swarmandal strings. Furthermore, the strings run over a fretboard known as Surpatti in Hindi, and above the fretboard are keys resembling typewriter keys. When, for instance, players depress these keys, they fret or shorten the strings, thereby raising their pitch.

The melody strings of the Bulbul Tarang are typically tuned to the same note or, in contrast, in octaves; meanwhile, the drone strings are tuned to the 1st and 5th notes of the melody strings. Although players can tune the melody strings to different pitches for a multi-tonic effect, consequently, this makes the instrument more challenging to play. Moreover, the Bulbul Tarang is most commonly used as an accompaniment to singing.

The Taisho Koto, likely first imported into India in the 1930s, has gained popularity in both India and Pakistan, evolving into a legitimate instrument now known as the Bulbul Tarang (the nightingale's cascading voice) or the Indian Banjo. This provides a basic history of the instrument.
