Instructions for Use
• Prep: Thoroughly wash and rinse 1 cup of Bundeli Desi Arhar Dal under running water. Soak for 20–30 minutes to reduce cooking time and ensure even texture.
• Cook:
• Pressure Cooker: Add 3 cups of water, a pinch of turmeric, and salt. Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles on medium heat until soft and creamy.
• Open Pan: Add 4 cups of water in a deep pan. Bring to a boil, cover with a lid, and simmer on medium-low heat for 30–40 minutes, skimming off any foam that rises to the top.
• Tempering (Tadka): Heat ghee or oil. Add cumin seeds, hing (asafoetida), garlic, onions, tomatoes, and red chilli powder. Pour this over the cooked dal for an authentic desi flavor.
• Serve: Best enjoyed hot paired with steamed basmati rice (Dal Chawal) or traditional Indian flatbreads (Roti).
