Sowing: Mainly September–December in the northern plains

Soil: Fertile, well-drained sandy loam to loam soil

Uses: Fresh consumption, cooking, salads, and pickling

Cultivation Practices

• Seed rate: 3–4 kg/ha
• Spacing: 30 cm between rows × 10 cm between plants after thinning
• Manure and fertilizer: Apply well-decomposed farmyard manure and fertilizers based on soil-test recommendations.
• Irrigation: Maintain adequate soil moisture, especially during root development.
• Harvesting: Harvest at marketable size to maintain root tenderness and quality; delayed harvesting may reduce eating quality.
• SEED SHOULD BE USED FOR SOWING PURPOSE ONLY.
