The Brinjal Pusa Purple Cluster (PPC) is a high-yielding, early-maturing eggplant variety developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI). It is particularly recognized for its cluster-bearing habit, where 4–9 fruits are produced in a single cluster. 

Key Characteristics and Description:

·Plant Type: Robust, upright, and non-spiny plants, often featuring purplish-green foliage.

·Fruit Appearance: Deep purple to dark purple, glossy, and medium-long fruits (10–12 cm).

·Bearing Habit: Fruits are produced in clusters of 4 to 9.

·Maturity: An early-maturing variety, with the first picking starting around 55–65 days after transplanting.

·Yield Potential: High-yielding, generally ranging from 250 to 350 quintals per hectare.

·Disease Resistance: Offers moderate resistance to bacterial wilt and little leaf disease.

·Suitability: Ideal for both commercial cultivation and home/kitchen gardening, particularly in southern and northern India. 

Cultivation Details:

·Sowing/Transplanting: Recommended spacing is 60x75 cm.

·Soil Type: Thrives in well-drained, sandy loam soil.

·Seed Rate: Approximately 200–250 g/acre.
