Assamese Muga Silk Saree

Muga silk, the most valued silk from India, is almost exclusively reared and produced in Assam. Indigenous to the Brahmaputra Valley, its cultivation is a time-honored practice in the districts of Assam. Its golden yellow or light brown color is natural, requiring no dyes. More durable than mulberry silks, Muga silk resists sunshine and can be considered organic due to its traditional, chemical-free production methods. It's naturally fluffy and can be ironed at a silk setting.
