Blue Pottery

Handmade Echoes of the Past

Blue Pottery is a distinctive Indian art form, primarily from Jaipur, known for its striking cobalt blue, turquoise, and green patterns on a white base. Unlike traditional pottery, it's unique because it's not made from conventional clay but from a special dough of quartz stone powder, glass, and Fuller's earth, which gives it a smooth, glossy, and slightly translucent finish after firing at low temperatures. Its designs often feature intricate floral motifs, birds, and animals, all hand-painted. Originating in Persia and brought to India by Mughals, it found its true home and unique style in Rajasthan. Beyond its decorative appeal as vases, plates, and tiles, Blue Pottery holds significant cultural value as a symbol of Jaipur's rich artistic heritage and the craftsmanship of its artisans.
