Edward Cole has to navigate himself bleakly through a mental health life against the odds. And for Edward Cole, the odds stacked heavily against him include autism spectrum disorder/ASD/Aspergers syndrome, ADHD, OCD, extreme anxiety issues, agoraphobia, schizophrenic symptoms, learning disorders, mood disorders, eating disorders, alcoholism, prescription drug use and suicidal tendencies from his teens to thirties. It doesnt help that those closest to him are themselves caught up in an endless chain of multiple suicide attempts as well as anger management problems and recreational drug addiction. But then thats the spectrum of mental health for you. 

Amidst his 30 year battle with mental illness, Ed discovers the importance of spirituality and self-acceptance in dealing with health woes, but at a price to his very existence. While the fate of our protagonist remains unclear throughout, the reader must decide whether he can overcome his demons. Or whether his demons will take charge in the ultimate war against insanity.
