History (Wikipedia):

From where we get Sarod- Small history below:

Our knowledge about the instrument is from Wikipedia. As per Wikipedia, we shared this small history to let our customers know about the history. The sarod is a stringed instrument that musicians use in Hindustani music on the Indian subcontinent. Moreover, along with the sitar, the instrument ranks among the most popular and prominent instruments. Specifically, it is known for its deep, weighty, introspective sound, which contrasts with the sweet, overtone-rich texture of the sitar. Additionally, its sympathetic strings give it a resonant, reverberant quality. Furthermore, as a fretless instrument, it can produce the continuous slides between notes known as meend (glissandi), which play an important role in Indian music.

During the late Mughal Empire, Persians introduced the word "sarod" into the language. While the word "sarod" is much older than the Indian musical instrument, one can trace sorūd back to Persian, meaning 'song', 'melody', and 'hymn'. Furthermore, one can trace the Persian verb *sorūdan* back even further, correspondingly meaning 'to sing', 'to play a musical instrument', and even 'to compose'.

Alternatively, the shahrud may have given its name to the sarod. In fact, the Persian word šāh-rūd is made up of šāh (shah or king) and rūd (string). Furthermore, many scholars of Indian classical music believe that the sarod is a combination of the ancient chitravina, the medieval Indian rabab, and modern sursingar. This provides a basic history of the instrument.
