691ac2d955fe990a89692b52NSC Vegetable Seed- Turnip Seed-PTWG-20gms

PTWG Turnip stands for PURPEL TOP WHITE GLOBE, a popular and high-yielding variety of turnip known for its round roots with a distinctive purple top and creamy white bottom. It's a fast-maturing crop (50-60 days) that is versatile for both commercial and home gardening and can be used fresh or cooked. Characteristics

  • Appearance: Nearly round roots with a purple crown where they were exposed to sunlight and a white lower part.
  • Flavor: Mild, sweet, and crisp.
  • Edible parts: Both the root and the leafy green tops are edible.
  • Maturity: Early to mid-season variety, maturing in about 50-60 days.

Cultivation

  • Planting: Sow seeds directly into the soil, 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch deep.
  • Spacing: Plant seeds about 1 inch apart in rows 12 to 18 inches apart, and thin seedlings to 4 to 6 inches apart once they are 4 inches high.
  • Soil and fertilizer: Use a low-nitrogen, organic fertilizer before planting to encourage root growth; too much nitrogen will result in more leafy greens and less root development.
  • Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, as consistent moisture is important for preventing roots from becoming tough and bitter.

Uses

  • Culinary: The roots are excellent for roasting, steaming, mashing, and soups.
  • Other: The greens are also edible and nutritious.
  • Gardening: Suitable for both kitchen gardens and commercial cultivation
