• Pusa Narangi Gainda is a prominent, high-yielding variety of African marigold (Tagetes erecta) developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi. It is highly prized in India for commercial loose flower production, landscaping, and festive garlands. 

Key Characteristics

• Flower Color: Vibrant, deep orange.
• Shape & Size: Fully double, globular flowers measuring 6 to 7 cm in diameter.
• Yield: Produces roughly 50 to 60 flowers per plant, yielding about 40 to 45 quintals per acre.
• Flowering Duration: Blooms begin 40 to 50 days after transplanting, with a long continuous flowering window of 40 to 45 days. 

Cultivation & Care

• Climate: Thrives in full sunlight and well-drained soil. It is traditionally sown in the winter (Rabi) season.
• Pest Resistance: Like most marigolds, it has natural pest-repellent properties, making it a great companion plant for organic gardens.
• Disease Management: Watch out for bud rot and leaf blight, which can be controlled with fungicidal sprays like Mancozeb.
