Chilli is a fruit that belongs to the genus Capsicum. On ripening and drying chilli fruit becomes red chilli, which is then grounded to form red chilli powder. Red chilli powder is the dried, pulverized fruit of one or more varieties of chilli pepper, which is often accompanied by the addition of other spices. It is mild-hot and gives a glowing natural red colour to your dishes making them attractive and more palatable. There are several types of red chilli powders found in the market, but of the varieties are very common: Dark red-colored chilli powder is less hot and spicy as compared to light-colored powder.
