NSC Kashi Bauni (Sem-207) Indian Bean is a high-yielding, dwarf/bushy dolichos bean variety developed by ICAR-IIVR, Varanasi, suitable for both home gardens and commercial cultivation without the need for staking. The plants are compact (about 65–70 cm tall) with strong branching and produce attractive green, semi-flat, slightly curved, tender pods of 10–12 cm length with mild flavour, ideal for fresh consumption and local markets. This variety is early maturing, with first pod picking around 85–90 days after sowing, and performs well in the rabi season. Under recommended agronomic practices, Kashi Bauni (Sem-207) yields about 200–230 quintals per hectare (up to ~236 q/ha) in multiple pickings, and shows good tolerance to common diseases like anthracnose, rust and zonate leaf spot, making it a reliable and profitable choice for growers.
