When there is bleeding from a blood vessel due to any injury or other reason in the body, the work of stopping the blood is done by platelets only. Mainly the lack of platelets causes the problem. Women may complain of abnormally heavy periods, fatigue, and general weakness due to low platelet count, prolonged bleeding from cuts, bleeding gums or nose, and blood in urine or stools.
