Here is a step-by-step instruction manual for disinfecting an operation theater using Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QACs) disinfectants: ESLOC-D

Gather necessary supplies:

Obtain the following items before starting the disinfection process:

• Quaternary Ammonium Compounds (QACs) disinfectant  ESLOC-D solution
• Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and a mask
• Clean microfiber or disposable cloths
• Mop or spray bottle (depending on the size of the area)
• Buckets for dilution (if required)
• Detergent or cleaning solution (for pre-cleaning, if necessary)
• Timer or stopwatch (optional)

Put on personal protective equipment (PPE):

Before you begin, ensure that you are wearing the appropriate PPE, including gloves, goggles, and a mask. This will protect you from any potential exposure to the disinfectant.

Pre-clean the surfaces

If the operation theater surfaces are visibly soiled or contaminated, it is recommended to pre-clean them using a detergent or cleaning solution. This step helps remove any dirt, debris, or organic matter before disinfection.

Prepare the QACs disinfectant solution:

Areas of Application: Use for Disinfection ( Surface and Environment)

• Sterile Zone of Operation theater, ICU, ICCU, NICU, Cath Lab etc : 16% dilution ( 16 ml ESLOC-D in One liter Water) is used for fogging and or mopping / wiping floors, walls, furniture, equipment. Recommended volume of Fogging is 1 liter ( 1.6% dilution ESLOC-D ) for every 1000 cubic foot Volume ( Room size 10 x 10 x 10 feet).
• Clean Zone outside operating room, waiting halls, corridors, reception areas, wards : 8% dilution ( .8 ml ESLOC-D in One liter Water) is used for mopping / wiping floors, walls, furniture, equipment.
• Not to be used as High level Disinfectants or Chemical Sterilants for Surgical Instruments.

Begin disinfection process:

1. Start from the cleanest areas and gradually move towards the dirtiest areas to minimize cross-contamination.
2. Apply the QACs disinfectant solution to surfaces by either using a mop or a spray bottle. Ensure that the surfaces are thoroughly wetted with the solution.

Dispose of contaminated materials:

Dispose of any used cloths or materials properly. Follow local regulations and guidelines for the safe disposal of contaminated waste.

Clean and disinfect cleaning equipment:
